It was a 1 – 2 finish for Kirkwood-prepped horses in the 8th race at Saratoga today! HEATED VERDICT, owned by West Point Thoroughbreds, came in first with SLAPSTICK, owned by Merrylegs Farm, a close second. Congratulations to all of their connections!
MOON SONG bid 4 wide and was up in the nick of time to win at Indiana Grand. He was bred by Darley, John H. Adger & Stone Farm and is owned by Stone Farm. The 4 year old Elusive Quality colt has bankrolled over $51,000.
On the same day ROUGH PASSAGE, a 4 year old Stormy Atlantic gelding, won at Gulfstream. He was a $250,000 Kirkwood sold two year old in training. He is owned by Red Castle Farms and was bred by R S Evans.
LADY DAPHNE, wired the field to graduate by 4 at Saratoga. The three year old Harlan’s Holiday filly shot out of the gate and never looked back. Bred by Twin Creeks, she was owned by Tracy Farmer and was trained by Chad Brown. She was claimed out of the race. We wish her new connections the best.
Graded stakes placed before today, four year old Speightstown filly RECEPTA added to her resume by winning the Fasig-Tipton De La Rose S at Saratoga. She found a seam between horses, darted through, had to continue dueling but finally cleared and won under a hand ride. She is owned by Phillips Racing Partnership and Pam Gartin and was bred by John W. Phillips & Hank Snowden. She has earned over $260,000.
To make it even better, two year old filly MISS PRUDENCE broke her maiden in a MSW at Delaware Park in her first start. She is owned by Nicholas Cammarano Jr and was bred by G Watts Humphrey Jr and Susie Keller.
West Point Thoroughbreds had two nice seconds at Saratoga with two year olds. Both Kirkwood grads, HEATED VERDICT was a first time starter and AWESOME DAME finished an impressive 2nd to Rachel Alexandra’s first foal, Rachel’s Valentina.
