West Point’s DEFONDO scores at Woodbine

Four year old El Corredor gelding, DEFONDO seemed happy to travel north from the Fair Grounds to Woodbine and won his first start there with some ease. He raced 6 1/2 furlongs on the all weather track and hit the lead before leaving the backstretch and did not give it up. He has earned over $100,000 for owner West Point Thoroughbreds.

Quite a Day at the Races for Kirkwood

Graded stakes winner RECEPTA closed out her winning ways last year taking the Fasig-Tipton De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga followed directly by  the Noble Damsel Stakes – Gr. 3 at Belmont. The Breeders’ Cup was not her cup of tea. The 5 year old Speightstown mare is getting going in 2016 with a third today in the Beaugay Stakes – Gr. 3 also at Belmont. She was had all sorts of trouble in the race. Watch for her next time. She is owned by Owner: Phillips Racing Partnership and Pam Gartin and was bred by John W. Phillips & Hank Snowden. She has earned better than $466,000.

Also at Belmont, HIT IT ONCE MORE, a Hard Spun  3 year old colt,  racing for August Dawn Farm, won a  62000 n1x allowance race. He was bred by JMJ Stable and has earned just a tick under $100,000.

Wine Not graduates at Belmont

Three year old West Point owned gelding, WINE NOT,  has been on the board in all 4 of his prior starts.  Today he got the job done winning a MSW at Belmont going a mile on the dirt. He started mid pack towards the rail and worked his way outside to challenge seriously in the stretch, went at it head to head and got the head bob for the win. He has already earned over $66,000.  The First Dude gelding was bred by Frank Hopewell Runner`s Dream Farm.

Escape to Vegas wins at Belmont

Escape to Vegas.  A true DESERT PARTY!!!  Kirkwood’s first two year old starter of 2016.  Owned by Rob Masiello and trained by Tom Morley, Escape to Vegas breaks his maiden at first asking.  An impressive win today, Race 1 – MSW 5F, at Belmont Park.  Congratulations to ALL connections!

Firestar wins at Belmont

NY Bred Here Comes Ben filly FIRESTAR has been knocking on the door and today she got the job done and graduated at Belmont going 7 furlongs on a muddy track – originally scheduled for the turf. She went off the favorite and did not disappoint ending up 3 lengths to the good of her closest rival. FIRESTAR has already earned over $60,000 for owner Zilla Racing Stables. She is trained by Kiaran McLaughlin.

3 winners for Kirkwood horses today

PA Bred DUVAL, a four year old gelding by Kodiack Kowboy, won his second in a row at PARX owner Ten Strike Racing. He drove up at the top of the stretch to challenge the winner and hit the wire in front He was bred by Mark Reid & DDS Stables. DUVAL is closing on 1/4 million in earnings.

At Finger Lakes, BAJAN BEACH won in allowance company for owner/trainer Debra A. Breed. This was her 6th win lifetime and she has earned just a tick under $100,000.

ELAINE KOWALESKI was claimed out of her last race at Oaklawn and running at Fairmount Park. she won for her new connections owner trainer Steve Manley.

Dominate wins at Gulfstream

He may be a 6 year old, but Any Given Saturday horse, DOMINATE, dueled early and long to hit the wire with his nose in front. He won at Gulfstream going 7 1.2 furlongs on the turf. DOMINATE is now owned by My Purple Haze Stables. He was bred by WinStar Farm.
