MANITOULIN takes Keeneland allowance for Darby Dan Racing

MANITOULIN (Awesome Again–Soaring Softly ) on the Belmont turf last June. Last seen running third Nov. 26 at Aqueduct, the chestnut  led early before settling in fourth at the rail through dawdling fractions. Hemmed in at the top of the lane, he was sent through a rail opening inside the three-sixteenths pole and soon kicked clear to score by two lengths. Manitoulin is a half to Much Rejoicing (Distorted Humor), SW, $160,457. His dam, who captured the GI Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf in 1999 en route to Eclipse honors that year.
